Nathan Collett HSF Founder
Writer/Director
Nathan
grew up overseas: in Venezuela, United States, Australia, Pakistan and
Kenya. He now makes his home in Nairobi, Kenya. As a young adult, his
time in Kenya inspired Nathan to study African History at Stanford
University, California. Nathan's honors thesis at Stanford was a
research paper and a documentary on the revival of traditional religion
in Kenya. Which inspired him to start Hot Sun Films. He further honed his filmmaking abilities at the prestigious film school at the University of Southern California (USC).
Nathan has directed, shot and edited numerous films and videos for
corporate clients and has made several award winning fictional short
films including KIBERA KID. Currently Nathan is developing a feature length based on KIBERA KID.
Through filmmaking and cultural exchanges, Nathan hopes to change the
world's impression of Africa and make it a better place for those on
the lowest rung of society. He wants to inspire and create change for Kibera and the Urban slums of Africa.
